SHOTGUN

SAFETY IS THE OVERRIDING PRINCIPAL IN THESE EVENTS

HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION IS MANDATORY

When using the range please ensure that the IPSC and .22cal range are closed.

There are three major disciplines that are practiced within the WLSA and for practical purposes, there are three types of shotguns if the shooter must have two shots in rapid succession, a requirement for American skeet. The types are: the pump gun, the automatic and a two barrel gun.

WLSA has a number of shotgun events. Five person events, buddy shoots, Annie Oakleys, bushwhackers. Meat prizes, turkeys, hams, bacon, chickens, plus bottles. Shoots for all levels of ability – novice, intermediate and  experts.

The cost of a round of 25 targets is $6.00.  Most people bring their own shells but if you prefer to buy them from us, we have shells for $9.00 per box of 25. The club has ample free parking and bathroom facilities.

CLAY SHOOTING

In clay shooting a number of “stands” are positioned about the range. Each stand will have a different target; e.g. crosser, driven or quartering etc. and each will have  predetermined number of targets, either in singles or doubles.

CLAY SHOOTING is a periodic event and required total range closure for safety.

SKEET SHOOTING

This is a recreational and competitive activity where participants, using shotguns, attempt to break clay targets mechanically flung into the air from two fixed stations at high speed from a variety of angles.

SKEET (Summer) Thursdays at 6:00 pm (Daylight Savings Time)

SKEET (Winter) Sundays starting at 12:00 noon

TRAP SHOOTING

In trap shooting the targets are launched from a single “house” or machine, generally away from the shooter. The layout of a modern trapshooting field differs from that of a skeet field and/or a sporting clays course.

TRAP (Summer) Wednesdays at 6:00 pm (Daylight Savings Time)

TRAP (Winter) Sundays at 12:00 Noon
