JUNIOR OLYMPIAN PROGRAM
The CARIBOO ARCHERS Junior Olympian Program typically starts in early October and and holds 2 sessions on Thursday evenings based on participants age.
Cost is minimal, 1) target and facility fee 2) BCAA membership, again obtained prior to registration, and 3) WLSA membership is required and should be obtained prior to registration.
Club volunteers provide a high level of training and encouragement. The program is coached by Cariboo Archer members who themselves have competed and attained multiple titles at the BC, Canadian and international levels.
JUNIOR OLYMPIAN PROGRAM
The Cariboo Archers in conjunction with the WLSA is pleased to announce the return of the JUNIOR OLYMPIAN PROGRAM.
What is a Junior Olympian Program (JOP)
The JOP is designed to recognize young archers for their achievements and give encouragement for improvements. As awards are earned, each youth develops archery skills together with greater confidence and ability to perform in competition. Goals include recognizing fair play, courtesy and good sportsmanship with the emphasis placed on safety and individual performance.
Shooters will learn about safety rules and learn the visual and audible signals used to for timing/safety controls.
Archers are encouraged to participate in the Provincial JOP Championships.
The Cariboo Archers program is open to youth aged 8 to 20.
*** This program is supported 100% by volunteers ***
There are no paid individuals.
NO ARCHERY GEAR IS REQUIRED.
Dates for 2019 Junior Olympian Program
First night and registration is on Thursday October 3rd and each Thursday after that to end of April.
NOTE: Follow the Cariboo Archers FACEBOOK for any updates or changes etc.
Lynn Sharman will be handling this years paperwork and she may be asking for help so please offer to step up and share the burden!
Time slots are:
5:15 pm – 6:30 pm
6:30 pm – 8.00 pm
We say 5:15 as that allows everyone to show up at 5, help the coaches with any last minute setup, and be ready to start at 5:15 with warm up, mandatory safety talk etc. If you can’t reliably make 5pm, please come at 6:30 instead of coming late. Late is disruptive, unsafe and strongly discouraged
Fees for 2019 Junior Olympian Program
Fee structure is in three parts, unchanged from last year.
JOP is KidSport friendly so see Big Brothers Big Sisiters for needed assistance.
1 – $30/ youth for targets and facility – payable at the first class – cash or cheque
2 – BCAA Membership – You must be a member, if not membership may be purchased online at BCAA Membership
Your BC Archery membership includes membership with Archery Canada. Archery Canada collects from us the following fees: For each individual membership (adult or youth): $25, For each family membership: $68, For each club membership: $75
Again, we would really appreciate the family to purchase their BCAA membership prior to registration. BCAA membership forms will be available at the first class if you were unable to join prior – cash or cheque only.
(Note that if Cariboo Archers send the membership form in, the card will be mailed to the CA facilitator BUT if you purchase online, it will be mailed to you. Upon receipt, bring it to the first available class to complete registration.)
3 – WLSA Membership – You must be a member, if not you may purchase from Chilcotin Guns or Blue Mountain Gunsmithing.
